Please complete and submit this form if you have a horse that you believe is eligible for genomic grade up classification in the Irish Draught Studbook.
Genomic grade up assessment currently costs €200 (inc VAT).
- If you have previously submitted a hair sample for your horse for SNP genotyping we will not require another sample.
- If HSI require a new hair sample, we will send you out a DNA sample bag on submission of this form and processing of payment. This sample bag should be sent back to HSI with approximately 60 mane/tail hairs with roots intact from the horse you want tested.
- This hair sample will be sent to Weatherbys where the SNP genotype will be generated and sent back to the HSI Geneticist who will run the appropriate tests to determine the eligibility of your horse for Genomic Grade Up.
The €200 fee covers the Genomic Grade Up eligibility assessment only. If your horse is eligible for Genomic Grade Up and you wish to have your passport updated to include the breed/parentage of your horse to a studbook passport, an upgrade fee of €200 applies.
Please note that this test does not guarantee that your horse will be eligible. Once the analysis has been started in the lab, refunds are no longer avalible.
Should you retract your application ahead of DNA testing, a refund less the admin fee will be offered (€10 admin fee).
