    The Mare Inspections are supported by the DAFM under the Equine Technical Support Fund.

  • Please read the below

  • Before you complete this application please ensure you have the following information ready:

    • Read attachted Terms and Conditions carefully
    • Mares passport (breeding, studbook, UELN)
    • Payment Card to pay online selection fee
    • Owner's details (if different to the applicant)

     

     Please note all venues will close two weeks before the inspection date. Please contact HSI directly for late entries. There will be a €130 charge for late entries.

    Venues may close early if at capacity

     

    Note: As in 2023, 2024 & 2025, where breeders/owners have a foreign mare whom they wish to campaign in the Studbook Series she must have been inspected in any DAFM approved studbook and obtain the relevant classification. 

     

    In 2026, all mares who wish to apply for:

    - Premium Mare Retention Scheme

    - Schooling Scheme II

    must have completed a mare selection in any DAFM approved studbook.

     

    Selections are subject to funding and the minimum eligibility requirement.

  • Important

    In 2026, all mares who wish to come forward for inspection must:

    • Be Named
    • Be in the Correct Ownership
    • Be endorsed into the relevant HSI studbook (if a non-HSI passport)

    Failure to do so will result in the mare not being accepted for inspection. Spaces will not be held for mares that are unnamed/not in the correct ownership/not endorsed.

     Please notify mares@horsesportireland.ie if you complete one of the above processes for your mare.

  • Will your mare be completing the loose jumping assessment at the inspection for an additional bronze/one star merit?

    Please note, there is now an additional charge for mares who jump at inspection (please pay for this at the end of the application).

    Mares can still achieve Class 1/Select without loose jumping.

    If you want your mare to loose jump at inspection please choose the option for loose jumping along with a venue.

                  Refunds will not be processed for any other application fee once the deadline for entry has passed. Refunds processed ahead of that date will be subject to the admin fee (€5).
