    Closing date for early bird applications is Friday 30th January 2026, thereafter the application fee will increase.

     

    All veterinary paperwork and X-rays must be completed and returned to HSI before Friday 13th Feburary 2026.

     

     

    Stallion Selections are funded in part by the Depatment of Agriculture, Food and the Marnie under Equine Technical Support Fund.

     

  • Stallion Inspections 2026

    The 2026 Irish Sport Horse, Irish Sport Pony and Irish Draught Horse Studbook Stallion Inspection will take place at Cavan Equestrian Centre on the 26th & 27th March 2026
  • The 2026 Stallion Inspection application fee is as follows:

    • Stage 1 Irish Draught & Irish Sport Horse/Pony €500
    • Stage 2 (Irish Sport Horse only who have completed and passed Stage 1 previously) €220

    Please note there will be an increase in application fees for Stage 1 from €500 to €800 for applications received after COB 30th January 2026.

            HSI must have received all required veterinary documents in full by February 13th 2026.
            The studbook will not repeatedly chase any applicant to request any missing documents.


            The closing date for submission is definite, where there is a failure to return documentation ahead of the deadline the stallion will not be permitted to present and the appliciation will not be refunded. 


            This information must be supplied to Horse Sport Ireland with the application.
            Performance records received after this date will not be considered for this event.

            • If applicants do not provide information to publish in the catalogue, the stallion’s page will be left blank.
            • It is the responsibility of applicants/handlers to furnish HSI with verifiable information e.g FEI Database, SJI Live, Eventing Ireland, Dressage Ireland.

              Please note: screenshots from online databases of damlines such as HorseTelex and Hippomundo will not be included.
              There will be no supplementary information added in after the deadline and the catalogues go to print.

            I hereby warrant, represent and agree as follows:

            1. The foregoing particulars are true and accurate in every respect. In the event of any particulars becoming inaccurate updated revised particulars will be furnished immediately in writing to Horse Sport Ireland (“HSI”).

            2. I am not aware of any matter or circumstance that might affect or be relevant to the selection or classification of the above-named Stallion that I have not disclosed in writing to HSI.

            3. Any photographs or other proprietary materials which may be furnished by me with the application are solely owned by me (or where I apply as agent, by the owner(s)) and no third-party consent or authority is required for the use thereof by HSI.

            4. The above-named Stallion is and will, when presented for selection, be in a fit state to be handled (and in particular by HSI appointed vets) and is and will be sufficiently trained.

            5. I agree to indemnify HSI on demand in full against any loss, claim or damage arising in the event of any breach of the foregoing warranties or any of them.

             

            I hereby confirm, agree and acknowledge as follows:

            1. HSI are hereby irrevocably authorised to hold the selection in public and to publish or make available for public selection and in such a manner as they may deem fit, whether in Irish Sport Horse Studbook/Horse Sport Ireland publications and website or otherwise the classification selection results and the results of the veterinary examination of the above named Stallion and any other information furnished above or pursuant to this application, without being under any obligation to do so.

            2. I have read the attached “Conditions Irish Sport Horse/Irish Draught Horse Stallion Selections”, “Appeals Procedures”, “Classification of Irish Sport Horse/Irish Draught Stallions Following Selections” and “Conditions of Stallion Classifications” and the general rules of the IHR incorporating the Irish Sport Horse/Irish Draught Studbook and any applicable European or Irish Legislation and agree to accept and abide by them and any amendments that may be made by HSI thereto from time to time.

            3. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing I agree to be bound by the “Appeals Procedures” referred to above in the event of any dispute arising in relation to this application or any selection or classification pursuant thereto.

            4. I authorise Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) to procure a SNP DNA profile and Linear Profile for my horse (as identified above) for identification and administration purposes within the Irish Horse Register (IHR). I understand that HSI will store the SNP DNA profile and Linear Profile within the IHR reference database (that is Weatherbys Scientific on behalf of the Irish Sport Horse and Irish Draught Horse Studbooks; AMS and HorseSource systems). Furthermore, I will provide Horse Sport Ireland with the required sample (blood or hair) from the horse in accordance with Irish Horse Register administration, stallion inspection protocols and reference database systems. I understand that HSI may use the SNP DNA and/or sample and Linear Profile for bona fide studbook administration associated with the IHR Studbooks and any other purpose within the purview of the applicable European and Irish Legislation inlcuding population research and under National Breeding Services, as amended from time to time.

             5. (In the case of multiple owners) each of the above warranties, representations and agreements are deemed to be made by or on behalf of each owner on a joint and several bases.

             6. Pursuant to the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016, I understand that it is necessary for the Horse Sport Ireland to process personal data which it may have in its possession concerning me including disclosure to third parties such as, but not limited to, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. I note that Horse Sport Ireland are responsible for administration services relating to the Irish Sport Horse, Irish Sport Pony and Irish Draught Horse Studbooks. I confirm that I have reviewed Horse Sport Ireland’s Data Protection and Privacy policies (available at www.horsesportireland.ie or on request) and I note that Horse Sport Ireland will only process my personal data for legitimate business purposes relating to the HSI studbooks, studbook research, stallion promotion and/or where required by law. All processing will have due regard to the DPA 2018 and GDPR 2016. I note that this personal data may include sensitive personal data, as defined within the DPA and GDPR, the processing of which requires my explicit consent. I note that Horse Sport Ireland will honour my rights and freedoms at all times, including my rights as a data subject, as long as there is no other overriding law which limits those privileges. I consent to the processing of any information relating to me and my horses, either contained in this form or otherwise, for legitimate business purposes relating to maintaining the HSI studbooks, studbook research, HSI database, stallion promotion and/or where required by law.
